Kurt Matzler—strategy professor, bestselling author, and Ultracycling World Champion 2024—shares powerful lessons from the Race Across America, one of the world’s toughest endurance races. Drawing on extreme experiences of exhaustion, uncertainty, and pressure, he shows how mental strength, discipline, and strategy drive exceptional performance, helping audiences set ambitious goals, stay resilient, and unlock their full potential.
He is Professor of Strategic Management at the University of Innsbruck and Academic Director of the Executive MBA at MCI Innsbruck. A leading strategic thinker (Brightline Initiative) and partner at IMP, he has authored over 300 academic publications and several influential books, including Open Strategy and The High Performance Mindset. His work is widely recognized, with over 37,000 citations on Google Scholar.
Through his participation in Race Across America, his Rotary team has raised over USD 4 million to support the global eradication of polio.
