Grzegorz Wiśniewski

Professional experience:

Grzegorz Wiśniewski is a Founder (2001) and chairman (until now) of the Instytut Energetyki Odnawialnej (IEO) in Warsaw, former (1997-2004) director of the European Commission Center for the Baltic Sea Region for Renewable Energy Centre (EC BREC). He specializes in renewable energy technologies, energy policy, and energy economics, and analyzes the electricity and heat market. He is a co-author of the Polish strategy on renewable energy (2001) and several strategic reports for the Polish government and the European Commission. He was a member of the ManagEnergy Reflection Group (President 2007 – 2008) – an advisory group of the European Commission in the field of sustainable energy. He participated in the work of many advisory bodies at the government level, including a member of the Steering Committee for Advanced Energy Use Systems at NCBiR, the Advisory Team for the development of production of devices for renewable energy, the POIŚ Monitoring Committee, GreenEvo Chapter and others.

From 2016 to 2021, he was a member of the National Development Council appointed by the President of the Republic of Poland. He is a laureate of the titles: “Promotor energetyki odnawialnej” of the monthly Czysta Energia and “Nowy Impuls’2014” of the economic monthly Nowy Przemysł for his contribution to the development of prosumer concepts in renewable energy.

In 2015, he was awarded “Człowiek Roku Polskiej Ekologii“. He was the initiator (2020) of the project for the construction of a Gigafactory of photovoltaic cells in Poland, currently implemented by the company Giga PV S.A. and the concept of introducing zero-emission RES construction with seasonal heat storage into the Polish heating sector (research projects of the National Center for Research and Development 2021-2022). He is a member of the Coordination Council for the Development of the Photovoltaic Sector (PV industry sector agreement with the government).
