Professional experience:

Piotr Szymański, MD, PhD, FESC.

Chairman of the EU Regulatory Affairs Committee board of the European Society of Cardiology (ESC). He represents the ESC in front of the European Commission, the European Parliament, in matters related to European health regulations (including under the EU4Health, EHDS and HTA projects.

Vice-chairman of the Transparency Council of AOTMiT. He reviewed a total of over 500 HTA (Health Technology Assessment) reports in various fields of medicine.

Member of international expert teams, including: 1) European Health Technology Assessment Network (EUNetHTA), 2) Next Generation Health Technology Assessment to support patient-centered, societally oriented, real-time decision-making on access and reimbursement for health technologies throughout Europe (H2020), 3) MDCG – Post Market Surveillance and Vigilance (PMSV) Working Group (European Commission), 4) IMPACT-HTA project (London School of Economics), CORE-MD Project.

He has published over 200 scientific papers and chapters in books, incl. in the best scientific journals such as The Lancet, European Heart Journal, Circulation and many others. Works are cited in many international standards of practice / consensus documents and manuals.

At the invitation of the organizers, he repeatedly gave lectures and / or chaired sessions at international and national conventions and conferences, including: ESC Cadiovascular Round Table, European Society of Cardiology, European Association of Echocardiography / European Association of Cardiovascular Imaging, International Cardiac Doppler Society, Biomed Alliance and the Polish Society of Cardiology.

Co-author of several consensus documents / recommendations issued, inter alia, by the Polish Society of Cardiology and the European Society of Cardiology.

For many years, an active reviewer of leading international journals such as Circulation, American Journal of Cardiology, PLOS One, Echocardiography, Polish Heart Journal, and others.

Cardiologist – Specialist in adult congenital heart disease (rare structural heart disease) and valve disease with 30 years of experience in this field. Interventional imaging specialist in the field of structural monitoring of the heart, participating in surgeries such as “world first”.
