Prof. dr Robert Morgan



Professional experience:

Prof. Dr. Robert Morgan has been a full Professor for nearly twenty years and has taught and
delivered his research mostly throughout Europe and North America although he works
increasingly in South America and Asia. Following a Management BS degree, he joined the
international electronics industry in a strategy role later returning to study for a PhD in global
market entry strategy. Receiving post-doctoral training at INSEAD and the Rock Center for
Entrepreneurship, Harvard Business School, he developed an academic career. Now Rob holds the
Sir Julian Hodge Chair and is Professor of Marketing & Strategy at Cardiff Business School, Cardiff
University. In addition, he is a Strategy Research Foundation (Strategic Management Society)
Scholar and holds several visiting and adjunct professorships at Copenhagen Business School
(Denmark), VU Universiteit Amsterdam (Netherlands), MODUL University (Austria), ALBA Graduate
School of Business (Greece), Nobel School of Management (Ghana), Fucape Business School
(Brazil) and two Executive Board appointments in companies in the UK and Asia. Rob combines
teaching, research and management consulting. For teaching, he delivers courses on
undergraduate, postgraduate (MSc, MBA, PhD) and executive programs. His research focuses on
entrepreneurship, firm capabilities, and innovation management from a marketing strategy
perspective. He has published over two hundred company cases, white papers, management
articles, and scholarly papers, some of which have appeared in Strategic Management Journal,
Journal of Management Studies, Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal, Journal of Product Innovation
Management, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of International Marketing,
Industrial Marketing Management, among others. His research has impact in terms of citation
(Google Scholar h-index = 43) with his work having been cited in nearly 8,000 published scientific
papers. Rob’s consulting experience has examined performance audit and impact, change
management, systems improvement, market responsiveness, and market and competitor analysis
for small firm and multinational corporate clients as well as large scale consulting assignments for
public policy makers and Ministers within government departments and agencies.
